Extended Reality (XR) Shrines

Xanadu’s “shrines” were seven, tracked movable LED walls serving as portals into the show’s 3D virtual world.

Media was rendered on each shrine using nDisplay in Unreal Engine 5 on a Boxx Apexx workstation with NVidia graphics on Absen LED panels and Brompton processing provided by 4Wall Entertainment.  Each shrine also had a Meyer ULTRA self-powered speaker.

Position and orientation of each shrine was tracked in real-time via Mo-Sys StarTrackers, enabling them to be moved by the show’s ensemble during the performance to reveal different parts of the virtual world.
